Product description

Annie has helped her sister Gwendolyn (otherwise known as Sleeping Beauty) wake up from the hundred-year curse by reuniting her with Prince Beldegard. So you’d think that things would be back to normal. Think again! The beloved prince is stuck in the body of a bear, and the only way that Annie can be free of the two irritating lovebirds is to come to his rescue. She must find the evil dwarf who cast the spell, and fast… Luckily, Annie has her own handsome prince to hand – and many smart tricks up her non-magical sleeve.

Unlocking the Spell is another level of the traditional fairy tales like Snow White and the Huntsman and many others. In my opinion, I believe book isn’t quite as good as Snow White and the Huntsman as I think it should be for younger people (9 – 10) as it is replaying the fairy tales but in a very slightly older way. It is based around a dwarf turning magical humans into animals, which I find isn’t very imaginative for a book that long. In addition, there is a long journey but no sense of proper adventure. I would say it’s not one of my top 25 books.
