Our Yellow book band pack is perfect for children with a reading age of 5-6.5.

Each reader is carefully levelled to build children’s reading confidence through the gentle introduction of new words, characters and themes. Yellow level readers focus on:

• Using common word endings – -ed,-ing, and common three letter words sit/hit,way/day.
• Introducing punctuation – capital letters, full stops, speech marks, question marks and exclamation marks
• Meaningful illustrations to support the story
• Strong narratives covering familiar subjects such as pets, safety and family experiences
• Repetition of up to 100 high frequency words
• Average word count of 170 words per reader

Book bands are used by UK schools to help children identify books which are suitable for their reading level. Allowing children to choose and enjoy stories that will build up their reading skills. All references to ages ranges and year groups are intended for guide purposes only.
