Product description
Barney is always wandering off… and one day he wanders to an abandoned chalk-pit, and tumbles over the edge. He lands in a cave and finds himself staring at a boy with shaggy hair and bright black eyes! Nobody believes that Barney has met a boy in the rubbish dump – a boy who wears a rabbit-skin and speaks in grunts. But what ancient Stone Age secrets does Stig hide? Barney finds out one night when they travel to a time very long ago, and watch Stig’s tribe build a mysterious circle made of stones…
Told in simple, captivating language, this beloved story is remarkable both for its breath of imagination and for the historical lesson which it teaches. Drawing readers into the prehistory whose remains still lie scattered in the English soil, Clive King’s timeless classic shimmers with intense magic.
Also available: Read and Respond activities to accompany Stig of the Dump.

on 26 May 2012This book made me emotional as Stig is a sad character who has obviously not seen humans for a long time. I think Top Gear, my favourite show copied Stig as in the book Stig is an unemotional character who doesn’t show many if any feelings just like in Top Gear.

on 1 March 2011In my class, we’re reading this book as a class read and I find it ever so boring. Instead I make my own stories in my head. The stig of the dump storyline doesn’t makes sense and is rubbish. 1 star.

on 8 January 2009read this book, because my mum read it when she was little and remembers liking it. Thought it was a good story and would be cool to have a secret friend to go and visit and teach things to.
