Dick King-Smith

Dick King-Smith was born and raised in Gloucestershire, surrounded by pet animals. After twenty years as a farmer, he turned to teaching and then to writing children’s books. Dick’s love of animals and farmyard life shines through in his stories. His gentle, accessible stories are ideal for young readers, blending humour and fantasy with useful lessons about life and the world.

Among his best-loved books is Babe, The Sheep Pig, which became a major film and was nominated for an Academy Award.

Dick died in January 2011, aged 88.

   I wached it as a film and thought it was really good!Now I want to read the book.Though I don’t know if it will be the same.I want to find out but I don’t want to wast my money.What shall I do? :-(

    This is probably one of the best books, I have ever read. Eventhough this story is impossible, Dick King Smith brings the story to life by his wonderful character descriptions and vocabulary.

    This book is really good!!! If you’ve seen the film of The Water Horse you need to read the book as it’s much better than the film!!!
