on 11 April 2021Great story, new perspective
Great to read a story that made me see the Roman Empire differently. Whilst we all know the extent of the empire, it is rare to get perspectives beyond Roman or British. An added bonus is the historical accuracy. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to share it with my class.

Brilliant and eye-opening
This book was recommended to me by a fellow teacher and I loved every second of it. It is a beautifully crafted narrative and full of rich descriptions about the contrasting lives led across the Roman Empire. The reign of Severus is fascinating and different to the story I remember being told when I was at school. Heartily recommend!
